Use Video Playback With Your DAW? - Check Out The New Free DAWLink Solution From Non Lethal Applications

Non Lethal Applications have released the public beta of a new free utility designed to simplify and improve the communication between your DAW and Non Lethal Applications’ Video Slave or ADR Master, initially just for Pro Tools on macOS and Windows.

Why Do We Need DAWLink?

Ever since its initial release, Video Slave has been relying on MIDI Timecode and MIDI Machine Control to connect to your DAW. While this works (and is of course still supported), the setup process has often not been as straightforward as they would have liked it to be, especially if Video Slave or ADR Master is on another machine in the network or when working with Pro Tools where HUI is also required to get around a looping bug with MTC.

What Is DAWLink?

DAWLink is a ReWire/audio plug-in combination used to connect your DAW with Video Slave or ADR Master in the easiest way possible. It provides timing information in a very accurate and fast way and makes using Video Slave or ADR Master on the same or on another machine on the network possible.

Setting up a connection between your DAW and Video Slave/ADR Master with DAWLink is as straightforward as it gets. Drag the plug-in to your DAW session and select the Video Slave or ADR Master instance you want it to talk to, and it’s done. It doesn't matter if Video Slave or ADR Master is running on a different machine across the network or on the same computer running the DAW.

With the new design, DAWLink provides lightning-fast lock and response times when scrubbing/looping or just playing back.

Just For Pro Tools For Now - Support For Other DAWs Coming Soon

Initially DAWLink is currently only supported for Pro Tools on macOS and Windows 10 but don’t worry if you use a different DAW, Non Lethal Applications have told us that support for other DAWs will be coming soon.

What Do I Need To Try Out DAWLink?

You need the following…

  • Pro Tools running on macOS or Windows

  • The latest version of either Video Slave or ADR Master, which Non Lethal Applications have updated to support DAWLink

  • Download the public beta of DAWLink

Not Sure How To Setup DAWLink? There Is A Detailed Tutorial To Help
