Man Spends £2000 On Summing Mixer And Says It's As Good As His Dream Catcher

A New York based home producer swears he can hear a difference from his recently purchased £2000 summing mixer.

Music maker Bart Savecco says he’s wanted a summing mixer since hearing about one 3 years ago on an audio forum, despite not having a clue what it does. However, now having blown his life savings he has become an evangelist for the technology and thinks everyone should own one.

We asked him what it actually did to the sound of his mixes to which he replied; “It’s not like any other piece of studio equipment where you know exactly what’s is happening. Instead it’s like magic adding a difference you can’t explain.”

On challenging him that his conviction may be based on a need to justify the high cost Savecco said;

“I disagree and only a person who doesn’t own one would say that.”

We asked if he had done any blind tests between audio with and without the summing mixer.

“Of course I have, the first thing I did when getting it was spend hours running blind tests. Every time I hit the bypass button I could hear a difference. I had my eyes closed so I know it wasn’t just my imagination.”

Summing mixers were created to make up for the computation deficit and poor summing of early DAWs and have been a very popular addition for those wanting to add magic to their sound.

Professor Marcus Schroder of the Bavarian Audio Institute says;

“If people really want to appreciate the benefits of a summing mixer then I recommend using early versions of DAWs and converters, those made around 20 years ago, this will really help to justify the purchase.”

Savecco is undeterred by the skepticism around summing mixers saying;

“This is the single most important purchase I’ve made since the dream catcher I have above my mixing console. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.“
