Hear CLA Use Delay Spins To Add Interest To A Vocal In The Puremix Lifeboats Series - Free Video Extract

In this free extract from the fascinating Lifeboats series from PureMix in which 6 different engineers mix the same song, which gives an unprecedented look into the difference in approach, Grammy award-winning mixer Chris Lord Alge demonstrates how he uses simple delay throws to add interest to a mix.

Delay, delay, delay…

Using his SSL and a hardware delay unit Chris spins individual phrases into the delay line to create events in the mix, small points of interests to reward the listener and keep them engaged. While Chris uses hardware the same technique can be performed in your DAW of choice using a send-return loop and without the hands of control of a mixer or a control surface, people working in the box can use send automation to create accurate delay throws.
