Forum Member Confused Why Music Production Not Classified As An Olympic Sport

A forum member is confused why music production is not classified as an Olympic sport after seeing so many people comparing various aspects of the recording craft on forums in ways that suggest they are trying to win medals.

Posting on the forum www.moregearthanyou.com, Patrick Odusgen from Seattle said; "I'm confused why there are no medals when so many posts are comparing stuff like who has the best snare sound, best soundproofing advice and best computer, and the most popular subject, who knows the most." He continued; "What's the point if no one wins any medals for being the best?"

New forum members were also confused by the revelation, with one of them saying; "So I've been posting loads of studio pictures for nothing? I've used nearly all the memory up on my phone recording videos of my mixes playing back and posting them, I thought they were impressing someone. I worked really hard to zoom in and out of all the plugins to show people how many I’d used!"

Older members of the forum are amused by the idea that posting is about winning medals.

A veteran member of the group who has been posting for several hours a day for over 15 years and in doing so has racked up an impressive 37,821 posts told us; "These younger members have no idea why someone posts a lot; it's not a about winning medals, we do it simply for the sense of superiority over the newbies. What’s the point of being a forum member if you’re not going to have an opinion on everything posted? The newbies may crave some kind of award but nothing beats the feeling you get when you make a newcomer asking a perfectly reasonable question feel like an idiot… trust me they think twice about posting again."

When asked how he found the time to post so much and work full time in the studio he replied; "I don't have time to make records anymore I'm too busy making sure people get my opinion." He continued; "I don't know how people find the time to make music, I have to stay on top of this, some days I can be arguing for several hours about everything from bit depth, snare mics or why George Martin should have mixed the Beatles in Atmos."

Odusgen went on to say; "It seems some people still think music production is an art and not a sport so I don't think we are going to see it included in the Olympics any time soon!"
