ADAM Audio and Sonarworks Announce Partnership - Could S Series Monitors DSP Soon Be Able To Host Reference 4 Speaker Calibration In The Near Future?

Our friends at both ADAM Audio and Sonarworks have announced they are partnering to help music creators around the world overcome the biggest challenge they face in their studio lives - Imperfect monitoring environments. Sounds very exciting indeed but what kind of monitoring solutions could this new pro audio dream team provide? Let’s take an educated guess…. First…

Here’s what ADAM Audio say about this partnership:

Sonarworks, developer of Reference studio calibration software, and ADAM Audio, manufacturer of premium monitoring products, announced a partnership that will help creators around the world achieve studio reference sound. The two brands have combined their expertise, and plan to unveil new monitoring solutions first half of 2019.

“Our international user base is very aware of limitations in their monitoring environments, which in most cases are prohibitively expensive or time consuming to overcome.” commented Christian Hellinger, CEO at ADAM Audio. “Through our partnership with Sonarworks, our international customer base will be able to experience our amazing loudspeakers without having to worry about imperfects in their rooms.”

“Fixing the monitoring environment — or ‘the room’ — has always been the biggest obstacle music creators face in achieving reference audio,” commented Martins Popelis, Co-Founder & VP Products, Sonarworks. “By integrating our software expertise with ADAM Audio’s best-in-class monitoring systems, we are set to overcome this challenge — so there is nothing standing in the way of achieving truly reliable, reference sound.”

Exciting Times Ahead

When ADAM Audio released their flagship S Series monitors a couple of years ago they made a lot of fuss about the built in DSP. This new monitor tech enables users to tune the monitor’s frequency response via a standalone EQ computer application. At the time the DSP news was well received but it did leave many of us on the team wondering if this DSP in ADAM’s S Series could be extended to host an already proven speaker calibration technology… such as Sonarworks. While this announcement doesn’t actually state this we a taking an educated guess that this is most likely what we will see from this exciting partnership between two of my favourite pro audio brands. Being able to mix using the Sonarworks correction outside of the DAW plug-in domain, or system wide application, would be a real game changer. More news to follow as and when we receive it.
