Soundly Release A New Version Of Their Cloud Based Sound Effects Librarian Software

Soundly have released the latest version of their cloud based sound effects librarian software and have adopted a new version number system. Gone is v2.x and in comes v2019.1 adopting a year and month version numbering system similar to that now used by Avid.

What’s New In Soundly 2019.1

Recent - Soundly now includes a dynamic collection named "Recent" which will show your recently played files. Now it’s even easier to keep track of recently previewed files, conveniently located in the sidebar.

Horizontal Zoom - A much asked for feature is finally here with a new and buttery smooth horizontal zoom, making it even easier to precisely select areas for export.

Alt + mouse wheel zooms horizontally in and out.
Alt+Shift + mouse wheel zooms vertically in and out.
You can also use the Pro Tools shortcuts "R" or "T" in Soundly to zoom horizontally in and out.

Extreme Speed Improvements - We've tweaked and fine-tuned the already blazingly fast Soundly audio engine, and the audio preview is now even faster. They hope that you will be amazed at how quickly Soundly now loads files from the cloud.

Flags - The new flag feature in Soundly lets you quickly mark files for auditioning, previewing and/or batch spotting to Pro Tools. Right-click and select "Flag" or use shortcut "F".
When flagged the row turns yellow. You can spot all flagged files to Pro Tools in one go. Flagged files will also show in your dynamic "Recent" collection so you can easily go back and find recently flagged files.

Better Adobe Premiere Integration - Soundly now detects where your Adobe Premiere project is located and can export dragged-out files to a folder relative to this project.

Single Channel Preview - Simply hold Alt + Channel number keys of the channel you want to preview in order to listen to a single channel within a multi-channel audio file. You can now quickly jump between each channel of a multi-channel audio file.

Prefix File Names - You can now prefix the file names of your exported audio with a text of your choosing. For example, you can prefix all the audio files you export with "SFX_" making it much easier to find all the sound effects in your Pro Tools Clip list which sorts alpha-numerically.

Other Feature Additions

  • Two new metadata columns. "File format" and "Date added"

  • Soundly can now transfer each channel in an audio file to separate mono tracks in Pro Tools. This is helpful if you run sessions with mono channels only and want to split up multichannel files to individual mono files.

  • When dragging a single file into Soundly, the file will load in the editor straight away.

  • Soundly can now start playback when you click in the waveform. You can activate this in settings.

  • Multi-users will now see the name of their multi-user account in the title of the Soundly window.
The aim is to present a nice way for multi-user companies to have their branding on the sound effect tool they use.

  • You can now import more metadata fields from metadata .csv files.

  • Improved workflow when using Soundly through a Proxy server.
Proxy now auto connects and logs you in without the need to click anything.

  • You can now upload multiple new versions of files in one go.

  • You can now download multiple files at once.

  • When multi-editing metadata on multiple files. Soundly will now show you progress as it loads the files.

Soundly Bug Fixes

  • The sample rate converter could sometimes distort on loud files. This is now fixed.

  • Fixed compatibility with Pro Tools 2019.

  • Fixed a bug where Soundly would sometimes fail to auto connect to a shared network database on Windows.

  • Fixed bug where permissions on shared network databases could be reset.

  • Fixed bug where Soundly would sometimes select multiple files in the search results after you dragged out a file.

  • Fixed bug where playback could sometimes produce pops and clicks.

  • Fixed bug where spotting multiple files could cause a crash.

  • Fixed bugs in writing meta-data.

  • Fixed bug where scrolling through files with arrow keys would sometimes lead to unexpected behaviour.
