Studio Tour - EastWest Studios Hollywood California

In this video for Production Expert, Pro Tools Expert Technical Editor James Ivey takes you on a tour of one of the most legendary studios in the world, EastWest Studio in Hollywood, California. Blake Rogers of EastWest is our tour guide with all the who, when, where and how information about this amazing studio facility.

EastWest Studios

EastWest Studios is one of the world’s finest recording facilities. Located in the heart of Hollywood, the studios have given rise to some of the most celebrated music of the last fifty years. From Frank Sinatra to The Rolling Stones, EastWest has produced more Grammy-winning albums than any other studio in the world.

In 2005, EastWest purchased the former Western Recorders studios at 6000 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood. Doug Rogers commissioned an extensive remodel of the non-technical areas by international design superstar Philippe Starck who virtually reinvented the hotel industry.

The idea was simple, take the most historic recording studios in the United States and transform it to meet the needs of contemporary artists and producers recording in the new era of music. The key ingredient, however, was in preserving the integrity of the live recording rooms, as built by legendary engineer Bill Putnam in 1961.

The result is a truly unique experience that stimulates both the eyes and the ears. A series of studio spaces that combine the epic sound recordings of the past with a bold, playful vision of the future. A place where artists can meet, mingle and be inspired, while at the same time shaping the way music is heard for generations to come.

EastWest Virtual Instruments

For the past 30 years, EastWest Sounds have been one of the leading developers of virtual instruments. Founded in 1988 by producer Doug Rogers, EastWest Sounds was the first to release a commercial drum sample library and forever changed the nature of music production. EastWest went on to produce some of the most awarded and top-selling virtual instruments in the market, expanding into every music style: orchestral, keyboards, rock/pop, ethnic, urban and EDM. Internationally renowned products like Symphonic Orchestra, StormDrum 2, RA, Hollywood Orchestra, Pianos, Ministry of Rock, Fab Four, Silk, Gypsy, ProDrummer, Ghostwriter, The Dark Side, Spaces and Hollywood Choirs have become essential tools for many musicians and composers.

EastWest virtual instruments are used and endorsed by the who’s who of the music, film, TV, and game industries, including James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games), Danny Elfman (Justice League, Alice in Wonderland), John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda), Brian Tyler (Thor, Iron Man 3, The Avengers), Zedd (superstar EDM producer), Jeff Beal (House of Cards), Thomas Newman (Passengers, Skyfall, Wall-E), David Newman (Ice Age, Tarzan), J.J.
