Pro Tools 2021.7 Released - More Bug Fixes

Pro Tools 2021.7 was released today. Curiously released in August as 2021.7, the last digit represents the month of the year and August is the 8th month but we’ll pass over that. It’s what we would describe as a “housekeeping release” with no new features included but several bug fixes. Do any of these affect your workflow?

Control Surfaces

  • Panning left using the S6, or other EuControl surfaces will no longer move in increments of two

Cloud / Collaboration

  • Pro Tools may now upload and download Project media on Windows-based machines with Ice Lake processors. Pro Tools First will also no longer crash after creating a Project on these machines.

Crashes & Errors

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when importing some video files with audio on macOS Mojave

  • Fixed a case that could cause an occasional short freeze/SWOD with Pro Tools 2021.6 on macOS

Dolby Atmos Workflows

  • Bed/Object Groups and Channel Descriptions are no longer carried over when switching connections for the Dolby Atmos Production or Mastering Suite to the Cinema Renderer

Editing

  • Nudging back/forward by the next largest value is functioning again when a selection is not present

Installer

  • The Pro Tools plug-in folder is no longer 'Read Only' for Admin accounts after installation on macOS

UI

  • Color Palette presets can be saved without any permissions issues on macOS

  • White borders no longer appear on Show/Hide channels dialog in non-English languages

Video

  • Fixed issue where video clips with non-integer frame rates would not align with timeline frame boundaries if the session start was not zero

  • Video Engine can be enabled on non-Admin systems without needing to enable on an admin account first

  • Session open time has been improved for sessions with many video files

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the import of video by dragging from macOS Finder
