Pro Tools Color Palette Issues - How To Fix Them

The release of Pro Tools 2021.6 has been very positively received by the userbase but Mac users have noticed an issue with saving presets in the new, extended Color Palette when using a Mac. We have a simple fix for this issue.

Location of Color Palette folder on a Mac

The issue is that the Color Palette saves its presets to a new Color Palette folder which on a Mac is in Documents/Pro Tools Presets. The permissions for this folder is set to System. Because of this the preset can’t be saved. See the screenshot below.

Folder permissions preventing saving presets

To fix this issue delete the Color Palette folder and create a new folder in the same location with the same name “Color Palette”. You’ll see that with the permissions updated you can now save presets. To save a preset to the 5 preset buttons just CMD click on the button to which you wish to save your preset. It will flash to show the save is complete..

Credit has to be given to community member Chris Shaw who figured this out and posted the fix. Thanks Chris.
