Avid Eucon 2022.4 Released

Along with the Pro Tools 2022.4 release a corresponding 2022.4 release of Eucon has been released with some useful new features. We have the details…

Update: We’ve had reports from users that if you update to Eucon 2022.4 and you use the iPad Avid Control app, the compatible version isn’t yet on the App store leaving you with a version mismatch. The speed at which new releases become available in the App store is beyond the control of Avid but these issues usually sort themselves out fairly quickly. If you are stuck with a version mismatch because you have updated already, you can roll back to an earlier version of Eucon.

Assignable Knob

The Assignable Knob can be assigned to almost any on-screen Pro Tools continuous control, including Clip Effects and AudioSuite plug-ins, to be able to keep control over a given parameter regardless of window or controller focus. With the optional ability to mirror the assignment to the Dock Jog Wheel, the Assignable Knob also lets you adjust a parameter with maximum resolution.

The Assignable Knob is also still available with Artist Transport and Artist Control and now supports Pro Tools in addition to the previously supported DAWs.

Avid Control Atmos Pan Graph

The Channel view Pan graph in Avid Control supports Dolby Atmos with a 2D grid and access to all pan parameters, Height modes, speaker settings, and Zone controls.

Soft Keys

The following new capabilities are now available for EuControl Soft Keys:

  • Improved Pause/Delay

  • S1 Soft Key Colors

  • New Surface Soft Keys

Improved Pause/Delay

When inserted between commands in the Soft Key Editor, the Pause command (\a) now applies a 25ms delay on both macOS and Windows. Multiple Pause commands (\a\a\a...) can be added for longer delays. The Pause command can only be added after another keystroke, not before. For example, attempting to start a command with a Pause is not supported (a dialog alerts you if you try to add a Pause in an unsupported location).

S1 Soft Key Colors

You can choose the colour scheme for the S1 Soft Keys 1–8. Choosing a colour scheme affects all keys on all S1 units.

New Surface Soft Keys

Various new commands are now available for Soft Keys, for more details follow this link.

Improved Recall of Multi-Workstation Layouts On S6 and S4

Layout recall has been improved to better manage tracks in multi-workstation Layouts, especially those that include tracks from other DAWs besides Pro Tools.

Tracks are stored in a Layout using a unique track ID (UID) to ensure tracks appear on the correct strips. If a Layout is recalled but S4/S6 cannot match the track UID it will search for a matching track name, or (absolute) track number, and then by workstation. By storing and matching track ID, name and/or number, and workstation you can create Layouts in session templates that will persist in new sessions.

For maximum session and project compatibility, a new preference in Settings > System lets you enable “legacy” track matching as available in 2021.10 and earlier. When the Use Legacy Layout Recall Matching setting is enabled, track matching will use UID, track name, or (absolute) track number only. This setting is disabled by default.
