Avid Announce S6 M10+ Control Surface - Brings Display Modules To The Avid S6 M10 Range

Following the announcement of the Avid S4 as the replacement to the M10 version of the Avid S6, Avid realized that existing Avid S6 M10 owners might not be very happy as the Avid S4 can have display modules, whereas if you wanted to display modules with the Avid S6, you had to go for the M40 option. Consequently Avid has announced the Avid S6 M10+ which enables M10 users to upgrade and have display modules.

The Avid S6 M10+ option is a combination of the display module hardware and a software license that will enable Avid S6 M10 owners to have the display modules that were previously only available to Avid S6 M40 customers.

Avid S6 M10 Is Being Discontinued

With S4 as its effective replacement, Avid is making the S6 M10 end-of-life. What this means is that once existing stock has been sold, it will not be possible to buy an S6 M10 control surface but don’t worry Avid will still offer another 5 years of support for this product as they do for any product that comes to its end-of-life. The Avid S6 M40 remains a current product but anyone looking at an S6 M10 will be directed to its replacement, the Avid S4.

Avid S6 M10+ Option Coming Soon

Avid have advised us that existing S6 M10 customers will soon be able to add S6 display modules to their configuration with a software upgrade and extra license.

The way this will work is that the M10+ license will be included with the first display module for each system and will be priced at $9995 (MSRP to be confirmed). Subsequent display modules for each system will be priced at the regular S6 price of $6995 (MSRP)

What We Think About the M10+ Option

It is great that at last Avid have spotted a potential pain point for customers and announced a solution out of the gate rather than having to respond after a lot of negativity from their customers. We hope this is another positive sign of a sea change in Avid’s strategies.
