Antares Auto-Tune Hybrid - DSP Tuning For Pro Tools Carbon And HDX

During Avid’s Pro Tools Carbon launch event François Quereuil, Avid’s Director of Audio Product Management announced that Antares had produced Auto-Tune Hybrid, a DSP version of their popular tuning software, which took us by surprise. In this article, we share what we now know about Auto-Tune Hybrid from Antares.

What Is Auto-Tune Hybrid?

Auto-Tune Hybrid is a real-time tuning solution for Pro Tools and Avid DSP hardware, including Carbon interfaces, HDX systems, and VENUE S6L live sound systems. Antares has designed Auto-Tune Hybrid to deliver the professional quality of Auto-Tune pitch correction and vocal effects, whilst being optimised for DSP powered performance, and like any other AAX DSP plugin, it also works on native Pro Tools systems.

Auto-Tune Hybrid has been specifically designed for Avid’s Hybrid Engine technology found in Pro Tools Carbon, enabling you to be able to move seamlessly between DSP and native processing in Pro Tools when recording, editing, and mixing. Using Pro Tools Carbon, you can record with DSP power for near zero-latency monitoring and then switch over to native processing and take your sessions on the road, leaving your Carbon hardware safe at home.

Auto-Tune Hybrid also includes Classic Mode, delivering the iconic “Auto-Tune 5 sound” that is essential for some for modern hip hop production, plus real-time MIDI Control, and advanced Vibrato Controls. Flex-Tune offers more transparent and natural-sounding tuning, and Humanize preserves subtle pitch variations on sustained notes.

Basic and Advanced views are designed to help you find the tools you need when you need them. Use Basic View for streamlined access to the most commonly used controls and switch over to Advanced View to unlock the MIDI, vibrato, and custom scale features.

Auto-Tune is compatible with the Antares Auto-Key plug-in (sold separately) and using it should mean that you never have to worry about finding the key of your music before tuning. Auto-Key detects the key and scale and sends that information to Auto-Tune Hybrid with a single click, streamlining your workflow and saving valuable time in the studio.
