EdiLoad v4 from Sounds In Sync has been released with a fleet of new features designed to save you time. The other good news is that EdiLoad v4 is 64-bit and compatible with macOS Catalina. In this article, we have all the details on the new release, a demo video and a special 20% discount off EdiLoad v4.

XML Support

Other than Catalina and 64-bit compatibility the main new feature added in EdiLoad v4 is to provide the option to import AAF and FCP7 XML files. Why is this so important? Its because v4 can now handle XMLs designed for Final Cut Pro 7 and those exported from Adobe’s Premiere Pro. These files can be imported into the main window, when you are exporting conform reference tracks for example, or they can be imported into the Compare window when comparing edit lists for picture changes.

What’s New In EdiLoad 4.0.4:

 Here is a list of what's included in this update:  

• While PDF scripts are loaded into create Scene Change window:

  • a password is now only requested when required to decrypt the PDF file, not when a password is set for other purposes.

  • added checkbox to 'Ignore marked up (lined) text'. Check this only while loading this type of PDF.

• Change to the message displayed after an AAF is exported to show settings required in Pro Tools depending on the frame rate and version of Pro Tools being used. Also updated for fixes made in PT2021.3.

• New preference 'Set Channel Name of mute WAVs to AAF Clip Name'. This allows you to view only the channel names in Pro Tools clips and still see the clip name in the EdiLoad conform reference clips.

• Bugfix while loading AAFs to round sources with a higher frame rate to correct source frame.

• While importing data from Excel files hidden tabs are now ignored.

What’s New In EdiLoad 4.0.3:

Here is a list of what's included in this minor update:  

• Fix to allow the import of AAFs on macOS with Unicode file names or paths.

• Bugfix to stop possible crash when main window edit list column is header sorted while the list is cleared. Bug introduced in v4.0.2, apologies.

What’s New In EdiLoad 4.0.2:

AAF Imports

• Loaded clips now contain the full duration of fade-ins and fade-outs for all types of transitions.

• Fix to load clips on multilayer vision AAFs correctly.

• Fix to read Premiere Pro AAFs correctly when source locations use samples.

• Fix to load AAFs for some European customers on Windows systems.

• AAF Exports

  • For 23.976, 29.97, 47.952 or 59.94 FPS AAF exports, an updated confirmation message with additional Pro Tools workaround info.

  • AAFs exported from 30/24 edit lists now export the source timecodes at the correct frame rate.

• On 'Create Scene Change Track' window, added a new control to remove episode numbers from the clip name element.

• While loading PDF shooting scripts now strip episode number from scene number for certain script formats.

• Main window edit list column sorts are now retained after events are deleted or updated from the column transfer window.

• EDL loads into the main window now remove duplicate events or events with identical destination timecodes and track selections.

• Pro Tools re-conform checklist contains now contains additional items.

What’s New In EdiLoad 4.0.1:

• Changes to AAF imports for Unicode support, AAFs generated by X2Pro, and sub-clip clip names.

• Setting the list Roll Name to the WAV file SoundRoll metadata when importing linked AAFs that were created by Pro Tools and linked WAV files are present.

• Getting the sound roll name when available while importing video clips into the main window from FCP7 XML files.

• Tweak while extracting the file names from clip names in EDL files to make sure valid file names are recognised.

• New field during import of PDF scripts to allow pages to be ignored that contain the entered text. E.g. 'Script Facing Pages'.

• Improvements while loading marked up (lined) PDF scripts to extract the PDF text correctly.

• EdiLoad v4.0.1 is a free update for all EdiLoad v4 (iLok) license holders.

What's New In EdiLoad v4:

• 64bit app with a user interface that is macOS dark mode and HiDPI compatible

• Option to import AAF files and FCP7 (Premiere Pro) XML files into the main and compare windows

• Ability to import up to 99 audio tracks into the main window with new 'Source Frame Count', 'File Name' and 'Info' columns

• Fix for compatibility with Pro Tools 2020.3+. Required when re-conforming sessions at 29.97 FPS

• Switch from exporting PTX files to AAF files for all clip-based exports

• New 'Update Data' window to update the timecode values in a Text or Excel file when picture changes occur

• New List menu item to remove sections in an edit list that are covered by an EdiLoad change list

• New List menu item to move selected events to a new track

• New List menu item to ripple defined tracks to the lowest possible track selection

• New List menu item to fix 00:00:00:00 source in timecodes with an alternate EDL

• New List menu item to select all events with no WAV File Name

• New 'EDL Save Format' menu item to lock the format during every import

• New 'Column Transfer' window Modify options to convert YYMMDD dates to 11Y11M11 dates and vice versa

• New 'Text Encoding' preferences to allow load and save of text files with non-English text

• New process menu item in Match Roll Name and Match File Name windows to delete all events that don't contain a match in both windows

• Dropping an EdiLoad project file onto the main window or app icon will now open the compare window and load the project into it

What Is EdiLoad?
