How To Use Pro Tools And Zoom To Collaborate - Free Help Guides For Those Working Remotely

The challenge to be able to work remotely has required some research and ingenuity to enable us to work together with clients and colleagues without being in the same room. A number of people have turned the Zoom teleconferencing platform to help. In this article, we are going to share two free training resources that have come to our attention from Final Final V2 and Edgar Rothermich.

Pro Tools Over Zoom From Final Final V2

Mike came across some excellent free help guides including one entitled Pro Tools with Zoom from a post-production facility called Final Final V2.

They say…

“This guide shows you how to play Pro Tools sessions through Zoom on MacOS, sharing both the video and the audio! It fixes sample rate problems found in other methods.

Ever needed to show a colleague in a different city something from a Pro Tools session? Perhaps you often do edits over the phone, bounce quick mp3s to send back and forth, or you share entire sessions on Dropbox. There’s a better way! “

You can download this free help guide as a Google document using the link above.

Rob Byers, Johnny Vince Evans, and Michael Raphael make up creative audio storytelling post-production team known as Final Final V2.  They provide training, workflow consultation, mixing, and sound design services and they have worked on some of the top narrative podcasts and radio programs.

Zoom.us - How It Works, Especially With DAWs And Audio Collaboration By Edgar Rothermich

Edgar emailed Mike to let us know that he had produced this latest free guide in his series of graphically enhanced manuals on using Zoom with Pro Tools and Logic Pro. He says…

“Many schools, companies, and pretty much everybody else is now using Zoom Meetings for online collaboration. However, we in the audio community or teaching audio application have special requirements for such a video conferencing tool. The last two weeks, I tried to figure out the details on how to use Pro Tools in Zoom Meetings with full stereo signals, screen share and remote access to use it in my own Audio Production classes at Loyola Marymount University. All those findings are now in the 75 pages book with lots of signal flow diagrams and graphics to illustrate the routing and step-by-step instructions. I made that pdf file available on my website as free pdf download, my little contribution to the community.”

Edgar Rothermich writes technical manuals with a unique style, focusing on rich graphics and diagrams to explain concepts and functionality of software applications under his GEM series (Graphically Enhanced Manuals). His best-selling titles are available as printed books on Amazon, as Multi-Touch eBooks on the iBooks Store, and as pdf downloads from his website.
