Routing Folder Tracks In Pro Tools - Free Tutorial

See this content in the original post

In the first of this series of free Pro Tools videos tutorials, brought to you with the support of Avid, Julian Rodgers looked at Basic Folder Tracks, how to create them and why you might use them. In the second video, Julian expanded on this with some example uses for Basic Folder Tracks. Now in the third in the series, Julian looks at Routing Folders, which combine the organisational benefits of Basic Folders with submixing like an Aux track.

Routing Folder Tracks

A Routing Folder Track does everything a Basic Folder Track does but adds the submixing functionality we previously had to use Aux Input tracks for. This combination of the session organisation benefits of Basic Folder Tracks and submixing with the options for bus processing make Routing Folder Tracks incredibly useful.

In this tutorial, Julian shows how quick it is to bring the benefits of Routing Folder Tracks to Pro Tools sessions created in earlier versions by converting existing Aux Input Tracks to Routing Folder Tracks. He also shows how when creating a Routing Folder Track for a selection of tracks the bussing happens automatically and demonstrates how member tracks of the Routing Folder Track don’t have to be routed to the Routing Folder’s bus and can be a member of a Routing folder without being routed through it.
