AVS Medientechnik GmbH has created a new brand Intelligent Studio Devices (ISD) and their first product is the ISD S6 PSU (Power Supply Unit), which is a special power supply unit for high-quality and interference-free power supply with additional functions for Pro Tools S6 M10 and M40 series control surfaces.

AVS Medientechnik GmbH claim that the new ISD S6 PSU improves the performance of the S6 by ensuring a stable and smooth start of the respective S6 modules.

This is primarily achieved by the use of selected, calibratable power supplies. In addition, an individually adjustable start sequence of the respective power supply outputs can be freely programmed on the device, which allows the corresponding AVID Pro Tools | S6 modules to be started in a controlled environment. This avoids problems - such as a late starting MTM module with simultaneous use of the internal DHCP server.

The ISD S6 PSU unit is fan-less which makes it very suitable for control rooms. Alternatively customers can request that the ISD S6 PSU be installed up to 20m away.

The ISD S6 PSU is also available as a "Pro" version for critical environments such as broadcast studios. This version has redundant power supplies. The power supplies have been designed to handle a voltage range of 90- 260V making them very tolerant of fluctuating mains supplies.

Both models also offer constant measurement of the temperature, as well as continuously measuring the individual outputs. Error evaluation via GPI/O is also included with the standard version and an integrated DHCP server and remote access are available as options for both versions.

Premium Wiring Kit

There is also a Pro Tools S6 Premium Wiring Kit for the Pro Tools S6 original frame. The wiring kit consists of a CNC milled backplane cover, for mounting on original Pro Tools S6 aluminium frames. The backplane panel offers a Speakon connection for internal power distribution.
