Atmos Workflows

  • Fixed an issue where Atmos height automation would not properly playback
  • An Access Violation no longer occurs when an invalid RMU is selected in Peripherals dialog. Windows only
  • Dialog indicating that an Atmos Renderer is not connected now only appears once and not every time a session is opened
  • Exported 7.1.2 wav file now contains the correct channel mask data
  • ADM files no longer import with a sub-frame offset
  • Improved start time accuracy when importing drop frame ADM files
  • Mono object tracks imported via an ADM file now maintain their mono subpath assignment, rather than getting mapped to the stereo main path

Control Surfaces

  • Fixed a crash when inserting a "default" plug-in on a EUCON surface
  • Filter Listen UI on Channel Strip plug-in is no longer out of sync between Pro Tools and S6 CDM/MTM
  • Dyn3 De-Esser plug-in parameters now appear properly on S6 CKM

Crashes and Errors

  • Option-Shift-clicking on panner with both a mono and stereo track selected no longer crashes Pro Tools
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when switching Playback Engine devices and sample rate
  • Fixed a freeze that could occur right after opening a session with a large amount of MIDI data.
  • Fixed a crash when changing track view after changing the tick/sample base setting of all tracks.
  • Disallowed playlists from being swapped while a track is frozen, which resulted in a variety of crashes.
  • Fixed a crash when changing timebase in playlist view and then deleting tracks.
  • Fixed a crash when trying to designate the main playlist as the target playlist after creating a new playlist.
  • Fixed a crash when sending clip groups to a playlist.
  • Fixed a crash that may occur after loop recording, deleting a track, and then closing the session.
  • Fixed a crash caused by performing various actions to the track after undoing a track commit.
  • Fixed a crash when recalling a track preset over an existing insert.
  • Fixed a crash when closing a session after recalling a quick preset from the Track Data to Recall section of the Workspace.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur on launch if the connected iLok had a perpetual license which was not current.
  • Fixed crash when assigning LLM output to a newly created multichannel path.
  • Fixed an issue where exporting a session as text resulted in an error.
  • Pro Tools third-party development build no longer crashes while idle when running a debugger.
  • Fixed an error that prevented creating a send when the track IO menus are organized by width.
  • Fixed crash which resulted from switching a main playlist on a track to a heterogeneous playlist during record.
  • Pro Tools no longer crashes when making showing or hiding Mix Window EQ Curves after switching between Wide and Narrow mix window views.
  • Pro Tools no longer crashes when removing a downmixer plug-in that causes track width changes.
  • Pro Tools no longer crashes when moving a plug-in insert during playback while plug-in has auxiliary output assignment.

Delay Compensation

  • Fixed an issue where re-recorded audio could be delayed by 64 samples when Hardware Buffer Size was set to 64.
  • Fixed an issue where parallel processed tracks were not properly delay compensated.
  • Unnecessary delay will not be incurred on tracks with a dead end bus assigned.

Editing

  • Fixed an issue where duplicating tracks could be slow.
  • Fixed multiple cases where -9155 errors could occur.
  • Fixed an issue where Offline Bounce could cause audio files to become out of sync when stereo bus paths have no subpaths.
  • Fixed an issue where performing Bounce to Disk multiple times in a row could cause an Assertion error or crash.
  • No shift in clip gain when rendering Clip Effects.
  • Pro Tools no longer hangs after editing clips and clip groups.
  • Fixed assert thrown during looped playback when session contained an instrument track.
  • Changing timeline selection during loop record no longer alters the position of the recorded signal.
  • Buffer noise is no longer heard when manipulating timeline small selections.
  • Fixed assert after changing timeline selection.
  • Playback no longer jumps to the end of the timeline selection when changing the right edge of the selection.
  • Transport remains in Loop while changing the position of right boundary during playback.
  • Fixed performance issue when input switching 50+ tracks using SHIT+I.
  • All options are once again available in VCA Masters Lane view selector.
  • Fixed an issue where the Grabber tool sometimes created automation breakpoints PAST the end of the session.
  • Ungrouping clips under certain conditions no longer crashes Pro Tools.
  • Drag and dropping an edit selection that includes a fade, once again moves the selection to the correct location.
  • Sync points no longer disappear after some edits.
  • Fixed an issue where drag and dropping multiple clips including fades, would incorrectly place some of the clips.
  • Using the shift modifier with the Smart Tool will now allow temporarily grouping selected tracks when creating/editing fades.
  • Fixed an assertion error when holding the Ctrl/Start key to TCE Trim a clip on a track with Elastic Audio.
  • Drastically improved Object Grabber performance with a large number of files.
  • Capturing multiple clips from the timeline will now be done in a consistent order.
  • Adjusting a fade on a track in a mix group will no longer adjust fades on other tracks in the group, as if it were an edit group.
  • 60fps field recorder files no longer expand to new tracks with an offset.

Import

  • Dragging an AAF to the Clip List, in High Sierra, no longer causes a hang.
  • Fixed a corruption that could occur with MXF audio files that originally ingested with a 3rd party solution.
  • Removed false "unsupported" dialog when importing multi-channel audio files through AAF.
  • Drag n' dropping files from the finder on macOS High Sierra will no longer freeze the UI in Pro Tools.
  • The import video window buttons once again function when drag n' dropping a video from the macOS Finder.
  • Importing session data, and choosing to overlay playlists, will no longer overwrite automation that is written earlier on the timeline.
  • "Tempo / Meter Map" and "Key Signature / Chord Map" options are now properly remembered when opening the Import Session Data window a second time.
  • Track output assignments are now properly ignored when Main Output Assignments is deselected in the Import Session Data window.
  • AOS outputs are no longer muted when importing session data with a second instance of the same AOS plug-in.
  • Fixed a specific case where a frozen track could not be imported through import session data.

MIDI

  • Retrospective MIDI now correctly follows record-enabled tracks.
  • Retrospective MIDI now respects input quantize.
  • Retrospective MIDI no longer creates unnecessary MIDI events while in Quickpunch Mode.
  • Fixed issue where Retrospective MIDI placed above the previous one if invoked multiple times during the same playback.
  • Fixed issue where changing timeline selection during playback didn't affect MIDI clip playback.
  • Retrospective MIDI no longer merges all passes with loop playback AND loop record mode enabled.
  • Retrospective Record no longer captures MIDI to the wrong track when Routing from a MIDI track to an Instrument track.
  • Left-clicking Loop Record button no longer breaks Retrospective MIDI.
  • Fixed an issue where some MIDI tracks could not be selected for editing in the MIDI Editor.
  • Shift-left arrow will now toggle recent playlist after creating a new playlist.
  • MIDI note edit key commands will continue to work after deselecting a note using the arrow keys.
  • MIDI Editor vertical zoom setting is now correctly recalled after hiding and showing.
  • Tracks in single note mode are once again imported correctly.
  • When MIDI tracks are duplicated, custom automation lanes are now preserved.
  • Grooves are once again listed in correct order in the MIDI Quantize Groove menu on High Sierra (MacOS 10.13.x).
  • Inactive MIDI and Instrument tracks are once again prevented from being record enabled when the Opt/Alt modifier is held when clicking on an active MIDI/Instrument track.
  • Holding shift+arrow key, when a MIDI note is selected, will now repeat the key command to continue extending the selection while the keys are held.
  • Pro Tools no longer hangs on initial MIDI input under certain conditions.

Playlists

  • Copying or moving a clip to an alternate playlist, while in waveform view, now assigns the correct clip colour.
  • Fixed an issue where Undo then Redo actions could incorrectly duplicate a playlist.
  • It's now possible to assign a Target Playlist from the Playlist View selector when track height is Mini or Micro.
  • It's now possible to assign a Target Playlist for all tracks (holding Shift), or for all selected tracks (holding Shift + Opt/Alt + click).
  • Fixed an issue where playlists could appear at different track heights after duplicating the track.
  • Fixed an issue where the Target Playlist button state could get out of sync with playlists in grouped tracks.
  • Adding a playlist from the  "Other Playlists" sub-menu, then undoing it, no longer duplicates the Main playlist.
  • Soloing alternate playlist no longer interrupts playback.
  • Fixed an issue where a new fade could not be created on a playlist after a clip had been copied on top of a previous fade.

Plug-ins

  • No lag in updating Mix Window EQ Curve displays if they were hidden behind another window during an update.
  • Plug-ins with auxiliary outputs no longer drop signal on HDX.
  • Native plug-ins Aux's are no longer silent for upmixing plug-ins when playback engine is set to HDX.
  • Preset Menu no longer takes a long time to build when Waves plug-ins are installed.
  • Fixed crash when closing Flux Bittersweet plug-in UI.
  • Multi-mono plug-ins no longer link when moving during playback.
  • List of Click Types no longer disappears when switching between categories.
  • Removes phasing artifacts when using Mod Delay III at extreme settings.
  • Pro Tools no longer hangs on LCR+ tracks when using AudioSuite in Multi-input mode.
  • Pro Tools no longer hangs when rendering clips on multichannel tracks with some AudioSuite plug-ins.
  • No audio dropouts when clicking on a clip while Audiosuite is previewing.
  • Plug-in load in alphabetical order on High Sierra.
  • Tracks inputs, assigned to a plugin’s auxiliary output no longer go inactive when changing between the stems of the same plug-in.
  • AAX plug-ins can connect to the internet through HTTP endpoints.
  • Fixed a case where Xpand!2 would fail to install with Pro Tools | First on macOS.

Track Presets

  • Fixed an assert that could occur when recalling a track preset from an insert.
  • Recalling a track preset on an aux track will no longer put it into frames view.
  • Up/Down arrows now move to the beginning and end of the text in the track preset name entry field.
  • Apply to all key modifiers (opt/alt) will now apply to all tracks when assigning a track preset to a send or insert.
  • Track presets can now be applied to aux tracks, as well as stereo audio tracks.
  • Illegal characters are now properly disallowed when creating track presets.
  • Fixed an issue where recalling a delay or reverb with a track preset would not overwrite an existing plug-in on the track.
  • Graphic defects no longer occur when dragging a track preset from the Workspace over an insert or send slot.
  • Replacing one VI with another using track presets will now update the Instrument routing.
  • Recalling multiple track presets from the New Tracks dialog will now place all of the resulting tracks below the selected tracks.
  • Track name is no longer blank when recalling a track preset on a frozen track.
  • Recalling a track preset on a frozen track will now unfreeze the track.
  • Track presets can now be dragged into the Tracks List of the Mix Window to create new tracks.

User Interface

  • Fixed a graphics defect in the Session Setup around the Freewheel options.
  • The Smart Tool cursor icons no longer stop working after focussing another application and then clicking the Pro Tools title bar.
  • Fixed a case where a stale waveform would be displayed after a destructive record.
  • Fixed an issue where some AudioSuite plug-in UI's will be grey when opened on a second monitor and last saved partially offscreen.
  • Closing a session, when in full-screen mode on macOS, will no longer leave the screen blank.
  • The preferences "OK" button is now visible on machines that have a low vertical screen resolution.
  • It is no longer possible to get to a track width setting for video tracks in the new track dialog.

Video

  • Thumbnails in the Video Universe Window are now displayed correctly.
  • Fixed a co-install incompatibility with video hardware and Media Composer 2018.5.
  • The video window no longer stays on top when in full screen mode and toggling between other applications.  Mac only.
  • The video window is no longer hidden behind other windows when recalling a window config on macOS.
  • A warning message is now presented when attempting to use the Windows Audio Device Playback Engine setting with the video engine.
  • Fixed an issue where some 720p MXF videos would not import.

Workspace

  • Folders are now highlighted correctly when using drag and drop in Workspace.
  • Pro Tools session file format now clearly indicates supported versions in the Workspace.
  • Disabling the "Show Sound Libraries in Workspace/Locations" preference will now stick after relaunching the app.
  • Correct results are now found when using the "kind" criteria in the Workspace advanced search.
  • Multiple digits can now be entered in the Sample Rate section of Advanced Search in the Workspace.

Miscellaneous

  • Resulting tracks are now named correctly after committing an instrument track that contains routing from a MIDI track.
  • Rendering no longer drops take names.
  • All plug-ins will now be installed when co-installing Pro Tools software on top of Pro Tools | First on Windows.
  • A black window no longer flashes on screen when opening or creating a new session. Windows only.
  • The Invite Window in Artist Chat doesn't open the first time you choose Start Collaboration on an existing project.
  • Fixed an issue where opening sessions at different sample rates when using MTRX and HD Native Thunderbolt could cause the following error message to be displayed, "Pro Tools has detected the number of peripherals connected to the HD Native Thunderbolt has changed. Please check the connections and restart Pro Tools".
  • All available subpaths for a multi-channel bus now appear properly in the New Sub-Paths dialog of I/O Setup.
  • Fixed an issue where a track's send fader position in Expanded Sends view did not match the fader position in the Send window.
  • Timecode 2 now reflects the correctly chosen rate, in Session Setup, when the rate is a higher frame rate.
  • Fixed graphical glitch when displaying Mix Window EQ Curves with high Q settings.
  • Instrument tracks load properly during drag and drop operations.
  • Fixed signal routing issue on input monitored track receiving input from another track.
  • Audio playback is no longer stopped when changing a timeline selection while in Dynamic Transport.
  • Dragging clips from workspace or finder during playback no longer drops channels on multichannel tracks.
  • Positioning timeline selection past selection end no longer halts playback if it is located before Dynamic Transport Play start marker.
  • Fixed drawing bug when moving Mix Window EQ Curves between Retina and non-Retina monitors.)
  • Fixed graphical defects in Mix Window EQ Curves when using with Channel Strip
  • Fixed an issue where tracks from other collaborators were sometimes not being imported.
  • Command+A (Select All) is once again working in the Import Audio window. 
  • Pressing Return key will once again select the first search result item in insert, send, input, and output assignment search.
  • Record enabling for MIDI/Instrument tracks are once again independent from record enabling on Audio tracks.
  • All Window Configurations are included when a session is saved as a template. 
  • The colour palette once again opens with "Track Colour" focussed when double-clicking a track colour in the Mix or Edit Windows.
  • Open Recent now remembers all previous sessions after a force quit or crash.
  • A unique ID is now added to a file during a save copy-in operation if the file does not have a unique ID, to begin with.
  • Allowed relinking to files that have matching Unique ID's, but only one also has an SMPTE ID.
