Mixing A Band Using Waves Plug-ins - Quick Mixing Tips You Can Master - Part 1 Drums

In this free video tutorial series, brought to you with the support of Waves, we show you how you to mix a live band session using a variety of plug-ins by Waves in Pro Tools.

In the first of a series of 4 videos we show you how you can use the following Waves plug-ins to mix live multi-track drums:

  • F6
  • Renaissance Verb
  • CLA-76
  • DeEsser
  • Audio Track
  • Vitamin
  • SSL Buss Compressor

Stereo overheads, kick (in), snare (top), Toms 1 & 2 are the tracks that feature in this session. At first glance, the unprocessed drum tracks sound ok but there some typical issues that need to be addressed. The kick drum sounds flabby, the snare drum sounds too lively, the toms need focusing and the overheads have some problematic frequencies clouding the overall picture of the drums. In this video, we'll show you how to address these typical drum mixing issues using Waves plug-ins.

In the following videos in this 4 part series, we will show you how to mix bass guitar, electric guitars, backing vocal arrangements and lead vocals using Waves plug-ins.
