Paul Neyrinck has released a progress report on supporting Pro Control and Control 24 in V-Control Pro so users can use these legacy control surfaces in Pro Tools 11 and above.  He is also looking for a small number of beta testers with specific requirements.

In March, Paul Neyrinck got in touch to tell us that he is undertaking some R&D looking at possible new features to V-Control Pro that would provide support for legacy control surfaces like the Pro Control and Control 24 with Pro Tools 11 and above as well as other DAWs. We asked if you would complete a short survey and last month Paul announced the outcome of the survey and how he plans to move forward. 

Pre-Beta Version Released

They have released a "pre-beta" version for Pro Tools 11 and later on Mac and Windows to a small number of external testers and preliminary feedback is positive. One person told Paul "you have worked an absolute miracle here". 

The Pro Control features are almost finished for the first version. The Control 24 is apparently working well but there are some important features that are not finished yet.

Working With Windows 7, 8 And 10

Paul is really pleased that they have finally got it working well with Windows 7, 8, and 10. Apparently, it has been very, very difficult to implement high-performance ethernet communications on Windows but it looks as if they have had a breakthrough.

Working Well With Mac OS Too

Paul has told us that it is largely working well on Mac OS 10.9 and later although they are still having some intermittent connection problems. Diagnosing these issues is proving to be a very time consuming and laborious process so they can not yet predict when it will be released. 

Small Number of Specific Beta Testers Required

Neyrinck has received a lot of interest from folk you have expressed an interest in helping to help to test this support For Legacy Control Surfaces like Pro Control and Control 24 with Pro Tools 11 and above. However, just now they only need a few people who have some specific capabilities. If you are running Windows 7, 8, or 10 and own Pro Control or Control 24, or you are own and use a Pro Control system with at least 32 faders on a Mac OS system then Neyrinck would be interested to hear from you. • Very experienced with using Pro Control or Control 24
• Be experienced with using Ethernet
• Be able to test immediately with real-world mix projects and availability to do small tests.
