Free Tutorial – How To Manage Your Click Track Like a Pro In Pro Tools

See this content in the original post

When working on songs with slower tempos, it's not uncommon for the band to request a double-speed click. Your first thought may be to double the session's tempo, but that will destructively move your markers in relation to the timeline. Whether you're recording your click on each take or not, you can use one of two simple ways to jump from a 1/4 note to an 1/8 note using the Click II plug-in or Time Operations window in Pro Tools.

Pro Tools Click II Plug-in

The latest version of the stock click track that comes with every Pro Tools system is greatly enhanced over the original. The Click II plug-in offers new ways to alter the click using the Follow Meter function, handy ways to alter the note value from a whole note to a sixteenth note. It also displays a visual reference via a flashing light on the plug-in's interface.

Time Operations

The Change Meter pulldown under Time Operations gives you a second way to alter the click note value without changing the tempo. By changing the note value in the click pulldown, you can double, or half your click without changing the tempo.
