Do Pro Tools Clip Effects Come Before Or After Clip Gain? Find Out This And More In Our Expert Tutorial

In this premium video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers looks at Clip Effects - What they are, Where to find them, where in the signal path they sit and how to use them efficiently.

Julian demonstrates their position in the signal path. Most people would guess correctly that Clip Effects happen before insert effects but do they happen before or after Clip Gain? In this video Julian finds out using a gate.

While using the dynamics section of Clip Effects can be frustrating because of the lack of metering, they are extremely useful for EQ and filtering and to repeat common tasks there are a useful set of shortcuts which can be reassigned from zoom presets in the editing page of the Pro Tools preferences. Julian also demonstrates how setting this preference doesn’t have to mean giving up your Zoom Presets shortcuts.
