Tovusound Ultimate Bundle Foley Instrument

Edward Ultimate is the bigger version of Edward and includes new content by the great Foley Artist Lara Dale (known for “The Expendables) and brings even more ways to perform natural Foley Artist footsteps inside the Native Instruments Kontakt engine and can run on the free Kontakt Player.

New features include the ability to mix two patches together inside one window, as well as a new Live Performance, using the Pitch and Mod-wheel, making Edward Ultimate a much more powerful tool.

Mike's Thoughts on Edward Ultimate Bundle

Having reviewed the Ultimate Bundle, I was impressed with the original Edward and wondered if these two Ultimate packages could live up to their name. Ultimate is a jump in price from the original foleyart instrument but it is a completely different animal. You do really need both of these to do the full job and Tovusound has recognised this and offer a bundle which saves you $100. As well as the foleyart instrument there is Edward Extended which is similar to Ultimate but only has one deck and not as many samples.

The care and quality of the sounds and the thought and design that has gone into the interface is excellent, like the use of the pitch bend and modulation wheels to make it even easier to use. 

If you are doing foley work and you cannot afford a real Foley artist in a real foley studio then Edward is well worth checking out.

What Is Edward?

Edward is designed to bring real recorded and natural randomised Foley Artist footsteps offering high quality and parameters to adjust distance and environment based on Native Instruments Kontakt engine.

Edward includes 35.600 real recorded and lovely edited Foley Artist sounds recorded at 96kHz and 24Bit. Edward comes with 43 different combinations of shoes and surfaces and 11 moves. Sneaking, slow walk, walk and jog with specials like stomp land scuffs, stop and spin. All varieties have been mapped to a specified keyboard key for real-time performance with left/right foot diversion.

Edward Now Supports Kontakt Player

They have released a version of their foley instrument Edward that is Kontakt Free Player compatible. So how there is no need to own a full version of Kontakt to use their foley instrument. What they have done is added Kontakt Player and full NKS support to Edward Extended and re-named it Edward Foleyart Instrument, which long-standing users will remember the name from our first release which now will no longer be supported.

In the Pro Tools Expert 10th Anniversary Competition we offered the chance to win one of 18 great prizes worth over $28,000 in total. Jeff Wolpert is the winner of the Tovusound Black Box - Everything From Tovusound - Foley And Sound Effects Worth $842.

I am a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal (BFA Studio Music), before going on to earn my Master of Music Degree in Sound Recording (Tonmeister) from McGill University in 1982.

Once I graduated, I started as a system tech and mixer at PA Plus in Toronto and then joined Inception Sound where during my 11 years there, I helped build it from one eight-track studio into two 48-track studios. I then became the chief engineer at McClear Digital Recording and Post Production Studios, a five-studio multi-format recording and mixing facility.

Currently, I am the owner and chief engineer of Desert Fish Studios, located in downtown Toronto and opened in 2012. I am also the Director of the Master of Music in Music Technology and Digital Media program at the University of Toronto. I have 3 JUNO Awards for Engineer of the Year. I am known for my mastery of acoustic recording and intricate mixing and also recognized for my technical and computer knowledge.

I am really looking forward to using the Tovusound Blackbox on our video productions! As a small boutique facility, it is somewhat beyond our means to build a proper Foley stage. Yet many of our clients request at least some Foley in their productions. The Tovusound Blackbox will enable us to meet their expectations on budget.

We recently started a relationship with the Sheridan College School of Animation and are looking forward to using the Tovusound products on their animations as well!
