Multiband Compressor Or Dynamic EQ?

This plug-in is three 254E plug-ins in a multiband arrangement. The 254E is an emulation of the Neve 2254 diode bridge compressor, a unit valued for its character and in this multiband version it brings something really nice to the sound just by virtue of being there.

In this application the biggest contribution to the sound is coming from the relative gains of the three frequency bands so it is acting as much as an EQ as a compressor. The line between a multiband compressor and a dynamic equaliser can get vague as they are such closely related processors.

Niveau Filter

The Niveau button is an interesting addition, this engages a carefully designed filter slope across the entire frequency spectrum to counter the increased sensitivity of compressors to bass content, giving a more natural compression response.
