Free Tutorial - Pro Tools For Beginners - Limiting And Bouncing To Stereo

See this content in the original post

This free video tutorial brought to you in association with Avid is the eighth and last in a series, aimed at people who are new to recording or new to Pro Tools. We've followed the development of a demo recording from the point of view of someone with no prior experience of recording.

In part 7, we took a very quick look at the aims of, and some techniques to help in the process of mixing, using the plug-ins included with Pro Tools.

Part 8 - Limiting And Bouncing to Stereo

In this video, we look at how to process a recording to control the output levels and bring up the overall loudness of a recording to make it suitable for life outside Pro Tools.

Mastering

Mastering receives an awful lot of attention and this video doesn't try to teach mastering in five minutes. Instead it just looks at limiting - A process which preventing prevents peaks from exceeding a defined level which in turn allows the whole recording to be turned up more than would be possible without any limiting.

Bounce To Disk

The final stage is to create a suitable stereo audio file of the mix, to make it accessible outside Pro Tools - not everyone has a copy! In this example we create an mp3 ready for sharing online.

I hope you have enjoyed the series, Many thanks to Jess Orestano for participating.
