See this content in the original post

In this free video tutorial, you will see how, with some restrictions, it is possible to paste between automation playlists in Pro Tools.

Can't Copy & Paste Automation Of Different Types

The need to paste automation of one type onto another doesn't come up often for me but when it does it always strikes me as easy to do - but sometimes you cant do it! Using Paste Special - To Current Automation Type is it possible to paste one type of automation onto another types as long as the following conditions are met:

  • You can't paste between Audio and MIDI tracks
  • You can't paste continuous data (volume, pan) to switched (on/off) data (mute, bypass)
  • You have to be displaying the automation playlist you with to affect
  • you can only paste one playlist at a time
