Free Tutorial - Using The Brainworx Bassdude With Electric Guitar

See this content in the original post

In this free video tutorial brought to you in with the support of Plugin Alliance, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers demonstrates an emulation based on one of his favourite amplifiers, the Fender Bassman.

Bassdude

The Bassdude is a software rendering of an early 60s Bassman. This amp. thought originally designed for use with bass guitar, quickly gained a reputation as an excellent guitar amp and it is in this use that Julian demonstrates how it overdrives so beautifully.

Recording Chains

Although not demonstrated in this video, the Bassdude offers many choices of cabinet and recording chain, with a choice of 2x12, 4x12, 4x10 and 8x10 cabinets with various miking alternatives and a vintage delay.

Gain Structure

The secret to getting the tones you want from a simple amp design like this is to hit the circuit with the right level, made considerably easier with the inclusion of an additional input gain in the FX rack and a corresponding Power Soak control to bring levels back under control for their onward journey through your DAW.
