In this series of free video tutorials produced by Avid, you will learn how to get started with Pro Tools First, the free version of Pro Tools. Before you start this series make sure you have downloaded and installed Pro Tools First and also have an audio interface connected.

In this 1st video, you learnt how to use templates to get you going quickly. Templates are common in a wide range of applications, including desktop publishing, website design, and audio recording and production.

In the 2nd video, you learnt how to build a new Pro Tools session from scratch as well as understand the background of how Pro Tools works.

In the 3rd video, you learnt how to create an audio track to record an acoustic guitar part, how you can use Grid and Slip modes to move clips around the session, as well as how you can duplicate clips or use clip looping. 

In the 4th video, you learnt how to add new sounds by renting or buying them from the Avid Marketplace all from inside Pro Tools First. There is no need to leave Pro Tools and go to the Avid Store or other 3rd party stores.

In the 5th video, you learnt how to use Elastic Audio to match loops and audio content to the tempo of your song, how to use the different tools like Selector, Trim and Grabber, as well as basic automation techniques.

Mixing, Distribution And The Avid Artist Community

Having recorded and edited all the tracks in a song, it's time to create a final mix. In this final video in the series, you will learn how to use AudioSuite plug-ins to process complete clips. Learn how to add a reverb tail to the last chord of the guitar part. See how Tab to Transient to find the last chord, and separate it as a separate clip to add a reverb tail to just that clip. Watch how to use the included stock plug-in D-Verb to achieve the reverb decay without tying up a real-time plug-in.

Once you are happy with all the setting and use Export which is the Pro Tools First equivalent of Bounce To Disk You can choose what output, which file format, sample rate and bit depth to use and don't forget to name the file and where you want to save it to.

Pro Tools First does not have the option to bounce to a mp3 file format, so you will need to use a 3rd party application to achieve that like Apple's iTunes.

When users sign up for Pro Tools First they also agree to be a part of the Avid Artist Community too. You access your Avid Artist Community profile from within your Avid Master Account, so log into your MAster Account and select the Access The Avid Artist community link in your MAster Account. From there you can view and update your Avid Artist Community profile, your portfolio, where you can add material you have been working on, and your Connection page where you can see all the people you are connected with, people who are following you and groups you are  member of as well as look at messages that have been sent to you within the Avid Artist Community.
