The team at Focusrite are very pleased to announce the new RedNet X2P, which they describe as a small, compact and robust 2x2 Dante audio interface. Could this be the Dante equipped box we have all been waiting for? Now there is no need to move 8 or 16 channels of I/O to your performer's location when all they are recording is a vocal on a single mic with a single set of headphones. 

The X2P features two Red Evolution mic pres as found on the Red4 Pre, Red8 Pre and new Red16 Line Interfaces. A stereo line out and a stereo headphone amplifier. RedNet X2P quickly adds I/O to you Focusrite Red interfaces or any Dante audio-over-IP system. Power, audio and remote control can now be supplied using a single Ethernet cable. The local input mixer allows more "It's all about me" monitoring control, while the new lockout feature ensures settings remain unchanged when used remotely by unskilled hands. 

The two digitally-controlled Red Evolution mic pres provide plenty of ultra-clean gain for mic or line input along with stereo linking, individual phantom power, a high-pass filter and phase reverse, plus they include the Air mode, which emulates the sound of Focusrite’s classic transformer-based mic preamps. RedNet X2P provides high-performance audio conversion with over 118dB dynamic range. These converters have been selected and calibrated to provide the best balance of sound quality, dynamic range ultra low conversion latency.

RedNet X2P features a mix control to provide adjustment of the level of local inputs versus network inputs that feed either the line outputs or the headphone outputs. The unit can be mounted directly to a mic stand, keeping it out of the way and within reach.

The new control locks feature enables local control of mic pre settings, output settings or both to be locked. Artists can adjust their headphone mix and level, safe in the knowledge that they cannot accidentally adjust the mic pre gain or other mix settings.
