Studio Hacks Round Up - Part 6

Another batch of studio hacks from the Studio Hacks Facebook page cover a DIY acoustic ceiling cloud, a great idea for microphone storage and a great automatic gain control hack for hardware units.

DIY Acoustic Cloud

Continuing the theme of DIY acoustics projects that have featured on these Studio Hacks Round Ups, we have a DIY acoustic ceiling cloud courtesy of Kelome Mac Cormaic. 

Donnie Miller also posted a picture of their own ceiling clouds.

Alternative Microphone Storage

Here is a great idea that we saw recently at Red Bull Studios in London. They are using old library card storage drawer units as very effective microphone storage. This would probably work for card index drawer units too. Worth a look round a second-hand office furniture supplies for these as I suspect they will be going cheap as who uses card indexes now?

Automatic Gain Control Hack

This one from El estudio de joe brings another meaning to 'rubber banding' to select a number of items. Here is being used to link the input and output control of a hardware dynamics unit but it would also be great for the Pultec EQ trick too, where you need to turn one control up whilst simultaneously turning another one down.
