Are You Having iLok Issues? Then Read This Important Information

See this content in the original post

We have been getting reports from several sources that all their iLok protected software has stopped working. The current issue that has been popping up in the last few days is getting an Authorization Exception message.  The message says...

Brand xyz cannot run, because an error occurred. The software that you are trying to run requires an update. Go to www.ilok.com and download and run the latest License Service Installer.

Apparently, an internal certificate on older versions of the iLok License Manager has expired.

How To Fix It

Synchronizing your iLok account or other iLok voodoo are NOT the solutions. The simple fix is to make sure you are on the latest version of the iLok License Manager, which is what the error message aludes to. But as long as you have v3.1.6 (released on 30th March 2017) or higher (the latest version at the time of writing is v3.1.7) then you should be OK.

In the notes in the iLok License Manager regarding the v3.1.6 update, it says this...

We anticipate that this version will be needed to use some older protected software from August 2017 moving forward. Before August 2017, we plan to release updates of the legacy installers for people running older operating systems.

Soundtoys chose to inform their user base with an email headed Important Update advising all customers to update their iLok License Manager to v3.1.6 as well as a campaign to reach as many people as possible through social media.

It's Not Just Soundtoys

Just because Soundtoys have publicised this, it isn't just a Soundtoys issue. This is NOT a Soundtoys issue, or even a plug-in or a Pro Tools issue, this will only occur if you haven't updated your iLok License Manager since 30th March 2017.

Using An Older Computer?

The iLok License Manager requires Mac OS 10.7 or higher or Window 7 or higher. If you are running an older operating system such as 10.6 or Windows Vista, you can find updated iLok Legacy Installers here.
