Event Report - Intelligent AV At The Royal Institute Of British Architects

Friday 28th July 2016 saw the first Intelligent AV event at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London.

Intelligent AV was designed to bring together suppliers, event managers, manufacturers and all those involved in the live event arena, from corporate events to stadium concerts and everything in between.

The day was structured between informative talks by leading brands and breakout sessions where attendees had the opportunity to chat directly to brand representatives and check out some of their latest products.   Audio brands included Allen and Heath who talked about live event sound operation, Artnoviom who did a very interesting presentation on room acoustics and our friends at British microphone brand Sontronics who chose Intelligent AV to be the first UK showing of their new Solo handheld dynamic microphone, which is designed and manufactured in the UK.

A team from Shure were on hand to talk about and demo their new Axient range of digital wireless microphones and fixed conferencing systems. They also did a very interesting presentation on their new Wireless Workbench software which is a very efficient way to deal with the potential issues when using multiple wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems.

Away from all things Audio, the Visual stuff was taken care of by such brands as Panasonic, Microsoft and Black Magic who were showing some very small yet feature packed video switching systems which can be used in either a broadcast or live situation.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a stunning grade 1 listed building but it really does work for these kinds of gathering.  They also have their own live events company, which took care of all the PA and projection needs for the speakers which are something that is often overlooked.  I very much hope this is the first of many Intelligent AV events that help join the dots between the different disciplines in the live event world.
