In this free video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers uses the Plugin Alliance SPL EQ Ranger Plus on a variety of sources to demonstrate this original take on EQ. A software incarnation of the original SLP passive EQ hardware, this design offers 8 bands of fixed frequencies but, building on the original Eq Ranger’s 3 modules it offers close to 200 different, genre and instrument specific sets of filters with carefully chosen frequencies for the anticipated source material.

This is an original idea. Instead of EQ presets - which are rarely helpful, it presents the user with a limited set of frequencies and can aid the decision-making process. If these frequencies aren’t working then you can use that to inform your decision on which are the right frequencies. It sounds odd but it kind of works…
