Tutorial - Using Nugen Audio's ISL2 True Peak Limiter As A Safety Net On The Mix Buss

In this free video tutorial, with the support of our friends at Nugen Audio, Production Expert team member Marcus Huyskens demonstrates how to use the ISL2 True Peak Limiter by Nugen audio on a ‘colored’ Mix Buss processing chain, after a 3rd party limiter to avoid any unforeseen true peak overs.

Limiters have become an invaluable tool in our sonic toolboxes when crafting a mix. In can be argued that certain limiters and plug-ins have a colour that they can impart on the audio as well. In fact, for this reason, many engineers, have their ‘go-to’ processing chain and limiters of choice that they stick to on their Mix Buss.

However not all limiters are created equally. Although these traditional limiters do have an output ceiling, not all of them offer the piece of mind that a true peak limiter such as the Nugen ISL2 can offer. Intersample peaks can easily occur, and in some cases can easily add an additional 1-3dB of gain over and on top of your peak levels!
