This batch of studio hacks from the Studio Hacks Facebook page have a very strong DIY theme from tube traps, via Mini DigiLink screw extenders to a voiceover booth.

DIY Tube Traps

This is a very interesting DIY project from Chris at Teres Audio has designed ad made some pressure zone tube traps. Chris says...

The traps significantly reduce room effects that smear and obscure the musical information. They do much more than just create the right amount of sound absorption. Adding the traps resulted in improved clarity, detail and transparency. The most profound effect is in the bass but there are improvements across the frequency spectrum. The cost of the traps is very modest ($300) and they are not difficult to construct.

I put together a brief tutorial for the relatively simple process of constructing these excellent tube traps. While I obtained good results I am by no means an expert on this subject so don't hesitate to experiment or make changes. The original concept for building these traps was published by Jon Gale.

DIY Vocal Booth

No more taking over my husband's closet for VO. He built this so we would leave him alone! 

It looks to us like pvc piping and joints to make the frame to support a number of quilted blankets.  On Studio Hacks Facebook page, Jeff O'Neil commented

Built one just like it a few years ago. Used the 'tubular shelving' support system from IKEA and moving blankets. The 'room' had a really nice sound to it.

Mini DigiLink Screw Extenders

This is a great hack from community member Georges Majerus. He writes...

Oh, those tiny little screws on the tiny Mini Digilink Connectors. How dreadful to unscrew them. Not even a slot for a screwdriver. Who says they have to be removed once installed? Well in my case that happens a lot since I am taking my interface out for on location recordings. So I found this hack. I have used heat shrinking tubes and screws with the same diameter. You now can unscrew them much easier. And given the very nature of this hack, the whole thing is flexible and good if you have thick fingers like I do.
