Alvin Burrell - Winner Of The Sonnox Community Award For January 2017

After a short break, January 2017 marked the welcome return of the monthly Sonnox Community Awards whereby each month we award the individual, who in the judge's opinion, made an outstanding ongoing contribution to the Pro Tools Expert community. The winner then gets to choose a plugin of their choice from the Sonnox Elite native bundle

For January 2017 we have awarded it to Alvin Burrell (announced in podcast no. 255) for his excellent ongoing support of the community in responding to comments, particularly his suggestion to use bongo ties to help organise your studio.Congratulations and thank you once again for your continuing contributions to the community - keep the great comments coming! Over to you Alvin...

I run a video production studio, providing production and post-production services for independent film, music projects, and some corporate work. We have only been established for 18 months so I am running this part time until while we get established. I work out of my studio I had built in my garden last year after consulting with some very experienced home studio owners including a very helpful couple of sessions from a certain James Ivey (you are always welcome to come down and have a look James). My workflow is based around a PTHD/UAD Apollo for audio and Adobe Premier/Avid Media Composer for Video.
I am really happy to win this award and would never have thought that something as small a bongo ties would lead to this – although I now use them everywhere in my studio and on location. It is great to be part of a community like this.
I have chosen the Oxford Dynamics Plug-in because while I have never used it personally, the range of processes built in and the sound seems fantastic and will help me with controlling some of the dialogue problems that appear with shoots. We also film small groups for live demos so this will really help balance the sound of live instruments.
