Free Tutorial - Setting Up The PreSonus Quantum I/O In Pro Tools
As you may have known, PreSonus recently released their latest flagship thunderbolt 2 audio interface - The Quantum. Needless to say, it's been making some wave's due to its impressive Round Trip Latency, & did extremely well in a recent shootout against the Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt in terms of quality.
As per usual, whenever a new interface is added to your Pro Tools system, it becomes beneficial to properly setup the I/O to have full access to all the in's & out's as reported by the driver.
In this free video tutorial, team member Marcus Huyskens demonstrates how to set up the I/O for the PreSonus Quantum thunderbolt interface in Pro Tools. In addition, he also covers how to save & export an I/O preset, as well as some of the basic software controls for the Quantum.
The Results Of The PreSonus Quantum And Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt Audio Interface Shoot Out
The results are in from the shoot-out between the Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt and the new Quantum Thunderbolt audio interfaces undertaken by Russ Hughes, from our sister site Studio One Expert.
The Test
The aim of the test was to focus was on audio quality, so they set up so that they could record the same audio using both interfaces and then compare the audio quality.
They used an AKG414 mic sent to a passive splitter to feed both interfaces, each running on its own Apple Mac computer. All audio was recorded in PreSonus Studio One 3.51 at 96/24.

I am a 26 year old music producer and mixing engineer.
I currently work at West One Music Group, a global production music company, as an engineer in their head office and studio facility in Soho, London.
In my free time I enjoy working with various other artists and bands, typically from my home studio.
The Presonus Quantum 2 is going to be fantastic for my workflow and will fit right in at my home studio for overdubs, mixing and session preps.
On top of that the compact size and built in high quality mic amps are going to be real useful for any location recording work. I was actually looking into saving for the Quantum 2 to replace my old FireWire interface, after seeing the recent shootouts of the Quantum against the Apogee. Thanks so much!
