Inspired by the ETM 140 mechanical plate reverb, this is a beautiful reverb which, while very simple in use, offers just enough control to keep things flexible and a modern extra not available on the original.

A plate reverb is a very significant piece of equipment, a huge sheet of tensioned steel with transducers to put energy into the plate and to pick up the resultant reflections, when they were introduced they were the modern alternative to an echo chamber, but that was a long time ago...

Infinte Reverb

The characteristic, bright sound of a plate is perfect for transient-rich material as well as vocals. Because of mechanical losses, there was a limit to how long a reverb plates could produce but in this recreation, the reverb can be infinite. Reverb freezes belong in the digital age, with AMS reverbs being well known for this effect but a frozen plate is a wonderful thing and if you want to try it yourself then get to the SoundToys website before November 22nd 2017.
