Focusrite Release Two New Scarlett Octopres

Hot out of the box for 2017 are two new Octopre 8 channel mic pres with A/D conversion by Focusrite. The new Octopre and Octopre Dynamics are part of the Scarlett range and are designed to compliment the Scarlett series of interfaces allowing users to add an extra 8 mic pres to recording rigs.

Features Common To Both Products

Both units have eight natural sounding 2nd generation Scarlett mic pres with mic/line inputs, including two instrument inputs. These provide plenty of gain and are very low noise.

Each unit supports up to 24-bit A/D conversion at sample rates up to 192kHz with a dynamic range of over 109dB. The first two mic pres on each unit feature instrument inputs, with plenty of headroom to handle even the juiciest of pick-ups without clipping. These new Preamps are optimized to handle extreme sound levels like kick and snare drums.

Eight line level outputs allows user to feed the line outputs into a live console while recording the digital outputs. A five-segment meter on every channel allows users to see what is "hitting tape".

Simple ADAT connectivity allows users to connect the new Scarlett Octopres instantly via optical cables to any audio interface with ADAT inputs. Dual ADAT ports support eight channels of mic, line or instrument sources at up to 96 kHz and four channels at 176.4/192 kHz.

Have you got a studio full on condenser mics? No problem, the new Scarlett Octopres have 48v phantom power on every channel.

 Additional Scarlett Octopre Dynamic Features

The Scarlett Octopre Dynamics allows users to keep inputs under control with an easy to use all-analogue, single-control 'soft-knee' compression system for a tighter sound. Natural and transparent in operation. If you hit the more button you can double the compression ratio for that slammed effect.

We hope to get these new Focusrite Scarlett Octopres in for testing very soon so watch this space for a video review in the coming weeks.
