Sonarworks True-Fi - A New Standard For Consumer Headphone Playback?

Our friends at Sonarworks have announced a new Sonarworks music player that appears to features technology from their headphone calibration plugin. This new music player, called Sonarworks True-Fi, appears to be aimed at the consumer market. Sonarworks True-Fi looks as though it shares the average calibration components found in Sonarworks Reference 3. Watch the video to get an overview of Sonarworks True-Fi.

What Is Sonarworks True-Fi?

We haven't yet had a chance to experience Sonarworks True-Fi but from what we understand it is essentially a straight forward mobile audio player app with average headphone calibration files included. If it works anything like Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin then we're sure True-Fi will be very good. From what we understand any set of headphones, consumer or studio, can be used with Sonarworks True-Fi. The user selects the headphones they are wearing and True-Fi provides a flatter, more natural frequency response meaning that the end user gets a truer representation of produced music.

We suppose the only limitation that comes to mind will be the range of headphone calibrations available in the True-Fi player. There will need to be a long list of average headphone measurements focusing on consumer headphones rather than just studio headphones currently bundled in Sonarworks reference 3.

When Will Sonarworks True-Fi Release?

We do not know when Sonarworks True-Fi will launch. All we know is that you can sign-up to the Sonarworks mailing list to be notified when Sonarworks launch True-Fi and to listen to an example of Faith No More "Cone Of Shame" on your headphones to hear the song exactly like the band heard in when mixing it in the studio.

Visit the Sonarworks True-Fi website for more information.
