Our friends at iZotope are running a free audio mixing masterclass as a series of weekly tutorials taught by award-winning engineer and producer Enrique Gonzalez Müller (Kronos Quartet, Nine Inch Nails, Los Amigos Invisibles, Jason Newsted) and mastering engineer and iZotope Director of Education Jonathan Wyner. 

Course Objectives

The aim of this series is to cover 10 tips for developing good habits as a mixer, while Enrique mixes a song by indie garage rockers The Rare Occasions.  You can sign up for the course on iZotope's website and you will receive each week's episode as a video lecture sent directly to your inbox each Monday until February 6th 2017.

Course Hosts

Enrique Gonzalez Müller is a producer, engineer, and musician who has worked with hundreds of artists across a variety of genres, including The Kronos Quartet, Nine Inch Nails, Los Amigos Invisibles, Jason Newsted, L’Aura and more. His work as a producer and engineer has been awarded a Latin GRAMMY award (2009, Best Alternative Music Album) and multiple GRAMMY nominations. He is a professor of Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music.

Jonathan Wyner is an audio technologist, Education Director for iZotope, professor at Berklee College of Music, and Chief Mastering Engineer at M Works Mastering. A musician and performer, he’s mastered and produced more than 5000 recordings during the last 30+ years. Among his credits you’ll find James Taylor, David Bowie, Aerosmith, Kiri Te Kanawa, Aimee Mann, London Symphony, Miles Davis, Semisonic, Thelonius Monk, Pink Floyd, Cream, Bruce Springsteen, and Nirvana. 

He has several accolades to his credit, including a GRAMMY Nomination in 2005 for production of the PBS special, Invention and Alchemy (Deborah Henson-Conant, 2005), the mastering of the first recording of a full length opera (Madame Butterfly 1912, BBC), and the first interactive CD game (Play it By Ear, Rykodisc). In 2012, he authored Audio Mastering: Essential Practices published by Hal Leonard/Berklee Press. Jonathan lectures on music and audio topics around the world.
