Universal Audio Announce Apollo Twin MkII At NAMM 2017

Our friends at Universal Audio are very proud to announce the next development in their highly successful Apollo range, the Apollo Twin MKII with a quad core version and Thunderbolt support for Mac and Windows.

The Apollo MKII Has Turned To The Dark Side

The Twin MKII has joined the rest of the Apollo family and turned to the dark side in this rather lovely matte black finish that I am sure will feel just as good as it looks.

Quad Core Added To The Twin Range

Universal Audio have upgraded the onboard processing to allow the Twin MKII to come in three UAD-2 flavors: Solo, Twin, and new Quad processor versions. If you need portable power, the new Quad version could well be the unit for you.

Thunderbolt Support For Both Mac And Windows

The big news is that the Twin MKII is an officially supported Thunderbolt compatible interface for both Windows and Mac OS.

The Same But More

The Apollo Twin MKII is still a 2x6 audio interface running up to 24-bit/192KHz audio conversion with two microphone pre-amps with Unison Technology allowing the user to process in real time through models of some of the most amazing vintage mic pres and guitar amp simulations.

Even though Twin MKII keeps the same 8 button layout Universal Audio have managed to cram even more features in. There is now a built-in talkback mic making it much easier to communicate with your vocal or instrumental talent and much-improved monitor controls including Mono, Mute, DIM and Alternative Monitor outputs. There are still 2 digitally controlled sets of monitor outs via 2 TRS Jacks for full audio resolution at all listening levels.

If you need to expand your recording capabilities to record more tracks simultaneously, all you need to do is connect an external mic pre via the Optical TOSLINK connection. This will allow an additional 8 channels to be routed to your DAW.

Bundled Plugins

If you are new to Apollo and the UAD-2 plug-in format the Apollo Twin MKII comes bundled with the Realtime Analog Classics bundle which features legacy versions of the LA-2A, 1176LN, Pultec EQP-1A, Softube Amp Room Essentials, Raw Distortion, 610-B Tube Preamp & EQ and plenty more to get you going.

We hope to have one of the new Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII units for review very soon. In the meantime you can find out more about this and all the units in the UA Apollo family at the Universal Audio website.

Pricing And Availability

The Apollo Twin MkII is now shipping with an estimated street price of $699 for the SOLO, $899  for the DUO, and $1,299 for the QUAD version.
