Pro Tools 12.7 Working On Microsoft Surface Book And Surface Pro 4

See this content in the original post

Robin Vincent from Surface Pro Audio has been testing a range of DAWs over the last year, and recently revisited Pro Tools to take a look at Pro Tools 12.7 and found that things are so much better than his last tests in May 2016.

Back in May 2016 Robin undertook his Mega Test video series with a veriety of DAWs on Microsoft Surface products and found that at that time Pro Tools was the worst behaving DAW on the Surface Pro 4.

But with the introduction of Pro Tools 12.7, based on his tests things seem to have changed. Previously Pro Tools would click and pop and glitch on even the most basic projects. Now it seems to be stable even when loading up plug-in after plug-in until the system is totally maxed out. Robin says....

It’s the most remarkable turn around I’ve seen yet. Pro Tools 12.7 is behaving beautifully on both the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4. It worked unexpectedly well.

Check out my video above for the full details and remember that your mileage may vary – your experience may be better or worse than mine. All I can show is what and how I tested the system and the results I found. I hope it’s helpful.

Test Systems Specs:

  • Surface Book i7 6600U 2.6GHz 16GB with Nvidia

  • Surface Pro 4 i5 6300U 2.4GHz 8GB

  • Avid Pro Tools 12.7

  • K-Mix USB Audio interface running ASIO drivers at 256 samples.
