I am a retired engineer with too much time on his hands.  I am trying to compose and record pop type songs. This year I got totally disgusted with Windows and bought a Mac Pro 15" with Retina display. Since then I have been able to spend my time composing rather than debugging the computer. 

I have Pro Tools 12.5 and recently started to use Studio One 3 as well.  On the other side of my home "studio",  I have a KORG PA4x. I use Pro Control and Studio One RC from there. These apps are OK but I would like to use Neyrinck V-Control Pro 2 to control both DAWs (no, not simultaneously although that would be very cool ). So I will have same app to control both apps.  Also, it is a great excuse to upgrade my iPad to an iPad Pro!

I am a new transfer student at the University of Valley Forge where I will study to achieve a Bachelors in Digital Recording Arts. I am a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Gunsmith, and Drum Teacher. I play rhythm guitar in Central Presbyterian Church's praise team Spirit Rising in Downingtown, with PA and work doing landscaping and general contracting on the side for extra money to support my studio ventures.  I have been searching for and recording talented new singer-songerwriters, podcasting, as well as scouring the web for learning opportunities, and really honing my skills as a producer since the beginning of the year. 

I am a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing piano for almost 20 years, drums for 16 years, bass, guitar, ukulele, and am teaching myself saxophone as well. When I was 12 years old I saved about 500 dollars from mowing lawns and weeding gardens to buy a second hand Boss BR-900 digital recorder and my journey into recording music began.  I used that machine up until January 2016 with just one Shure condenser and a pair of broken headphones I rewired to use as a microphone in the second input. At the beginning of this year I liquidated my savings and investments to build myself a start up business in the form of a little recording studio called Nantmeal Village Sound Studio. 

I searched the internet and various yard-sale apps looking for gear that would fit into my studio plan and ended up finding (all used) a Focusrite Pro40, Focusrite OctoPre, about 1200 dollars worth of Auralex sound foam that I picked up relatively inexpensively, mic cables and stands, and then bought a Mac Mini i7 and an Eleven Rack on Amazon prime because it came with Pro Tools. Then later picked up a set of Audio Technica ATX- M50 headphones, and a small Yamaha PA system as well.

The Neyrinck V-Control Pro software is going to allow me to work so much more fluidly when I am tracking behind my drum kit and anywhere in my tracking room.  It will also allow me to record and mix artists more easily from my control room which is above the tracking room.  In addition to the 1000 fold upgrade in ergonomics, the swag factor will be (literally) through the roof.

I recently got into recording my own music after years of sitting in studios bored waiting for my take, I'm fascinated by it and It's turned into a healthy obsession of mine.  I've got myself a little deal, and I write every day if I can. 

I was totally chuffed and grateful to have won the Neyrinck V-Control,  I can't say it's something that I would of purchased but after doing some research I'm really excited about it. It's going to help me when doing vocal takes, also I'm looking forward to tinkering about on the other side of the room!

I'm sound designer and mixer for the documentary, corporate film, shorts films, and web based content. I live in the North of France where I worked for more than 20 years in audio.

I first worked in the main regional post-production studio but for the last 5 years 85% of the time I now work in my own studio.

I have Pro Tools 12 HD with a 5.1 Genelec system and many plug-ins and applications, like EdiLoad, Video Slave 2, and iZotope RX5 Advanced.

I am currently working on the film “The Board” Directed by Christophe Lenoir that was shot last winter in the South of Ireland and Paris.

I have an old Command 8 (soon unsupported by Avid) and Neyrinck V-Control Pro 2 will allow me to mix with iPad and use my iPhone for panning.

As a DJ and electronic music producer I am always searching for new apps to help me to work in my studio as quickly as possible. With V-Control Pro 2 I will be able to control my DAW and interact with the plugins like never before.

I am a sound engineer and a sometimes musician of many years. I have recorded 100s CDs, mainly of acoustic music and have also made 1000s of hours of radio.  I veer towards the esoteric although I also do some teaching, and am very enthusiastic about recording and production.

I will use V-Control Pro 2 in the same way I have used V- Contro Pro to be able to operate Pro Tools from a distance to capture those moments without having to run back to a control room to adjust the monitoring on the fly! I will also use it as a control surface for those mixes where being touchy feely is better than mousing.

Kenny Russell

I'm delighted to have won a copy of Neyrinck's V-Control Pro 2. I'm looking forward to being able to control Pro Tools with the transport controls without sitting at the computer, which will be really useful when I'm tracking guitar and bass in another room. Hands on control of 16 faders too will we great, not to mention getting away from the mouse: repetitive strain is an issue when you spend long days on Pro Tools.

Based in Glasgow, I have played in a few different musical settings over the years. I played bass in punk bands, some orchestral dates, guitar in a Christian rock band, accompanied a gospel singer on keyboards and am currently working with singer Ian Donaldson formerly of H2O  (the Scottish band, not the American band of the same name). You may remember him from "I Dream To Sleep" and TOTP appearances. We've been working hard on his new album, it's ready to go, and the first single and video are going out soon.

I have a very modest Pro Tools set up, as you can see in the picture above. I started on Cubase v2 back in the day and Pro Tools was a bit of a learning curve. Thank goodness for Pro Tools Expert and Mike Thornton's monthly column in a certain magazine (can I say that?) [You can and it is Sound on Sound - Mike]. So, my thanks to the PTE team. Keep up the great work!

I am a Voice Over (and Under), Sound Designer, and Creative Services dood in the Motor City USA (translation: Detroit Metro). I handle the imaging and branding for WYCD and WOMC along with overseeing Commercial projects and some corporate things here and there for CBS Radio. I’m blessed with a great studio, amazing bosses, and I’ve built up a client base that I can be proud of. Most VO (and some VO+Imaging) clients are US based so far, but I have a couple of freelance producers across the pond who I get to work with from time to time.

I’m looking forward to playing with the newest Neyrinck V-Control Pro 2 in both studios. It will be especially useful since I bounce between DAWS (Pro Tools, Ableton, Audition,. And futzing with Studio One), and most likely being able to control my DAW from the Vocal Booth I have in my home studio.

I am an avid fan of writing music, collecting rare records and CDs and attending concerts as often as possible. I don't listen to the radio and prefer to pick up new bands or artists through recommendations or from the live scene.

I graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2010; specialising in composition for Film and TV. Most of my compositions are featured online for purchase and showcase a range of styles from Rock, Metal, Industrial through to Eastern ethnic inspired pieces and synthesised soundscapes. I believe music to be a universal language and we can always learn from global cultural influences.

I believe the V-Control Pro 2 software will help to speed up my workflow and provide some much needed hands on control. I'm keen to get stuck into the plug-in control feature V-Window and see how this will work with effects and instruments. I have no doubt this will help to enhance both productivity and creativity.

Gregory Geddes

My professional career started in 1968 when I had the good fortune to be an original member of the musical theatrical group “The Hello People”. We did numerous television appearances and over the course of 10 years released 6 LPs. One of my great influences was watching truly brilliant engineers and producers with whom we worked. Notably Bill Szymczyk, engineering our 2nd album, and Todd Rundgren, who produced and engineered our 4th and 5th album. We also played in Todd’s band on the “Something Anything” tour and later the “Back to the Bars” tour. After The Hello People disbanded, I was in Jesse Winchester’s band and most notably we appeared in Canada opening for the Eagles on the last leg of the Hotel California tour. 

I was on the road a lot, whilst my daughter was growing up and I was missing it. I say this because it led me to a new career path, Post Production. I was already living in Hollywood CA, and I began a new job in 1982 at Modern Video Film in the audio department, learning about time code, tape machine synchronization and sprocketed audio film support for telecine.

Next stop, Chace Productions where my new focus was archival film sound restoration for all the major film studios in Hollywood. I decided to open my own business, “Novastar Post”, in 1989 with my partner Bob Sky. We started in radio commercials and then archival film restoration. Then we expanded to cover editorial and re-recording mixes for film and television. We continued to grow, eventually having two dub stages, each with two Icon D Control 32 fader consoles, mixing 5.1 sound in our THX certified stages for film and episodic television. Additionally, we had a Foley stage, film layback, machine rooms and editorial suites. I was CEO and Chief Engineer of Novastar Post and we sold it to the Post Group in 2005.

Fast forward to now. I moved to Louisville, Kentucky 4 years ago and have rediscovered my great passion, music. I’m playing keyboard and sax in our band “Cool De Ville”. I also have formed a new business, “River City Records” with my new partner Donnie Loeffler, who has a great tracking facility that is a complement to my mix facility. I hope to bring my varied skills to this new chapter in my life. That brings us to Paul Neyrinck’s new software. I have known Paul from early days at Digidesign when he was writing code for in house plug-ins and have used many Neyrinck products over the years. In fact, I own a license for V Control Pro 1.9. Paul is an innovator and fills the gaps left by the autonomy of brands. I’m excited to try the V Control Pro 2 software to control other DAWs that my ICON can’t talk to. I am very interested in the Harrison Mixbuss 32 DAW as a possible stem mixer using Source Elements’ “Source-Nexus Pro” to route between Pro Tools and Mixbuss 32.
