Jigsaw24 Mix With The Pros Event Report

On June 15th 2016 our friends at Jigsaw24 held their fourth Mix With The Pros Event. The guest speakers were music producer/mixer Tim Bran (London Grammar, La Roux and The Verve, film composer Walter Mair (Blood Orange, Glue and Ronaldo) as well as our own James Ivey, demoing his beloved Focusrite Red 4 Pre.

In addition the Avid UK team were on hand to discuss the Avid S6, S3 and Dock control surfaces for Pro Tools as well as the cloud collaboration functionality introduced with Pro Tools 12.5.

Avid Announcements

The event was hosted by Simon Sherbourne from Avid UK and to start off proceeding Simon took the assembled gathering through the latest Avid products concentrating on the Dock and S3 combo. 

Film Composition Workflow With Walter Mair

Simon then handed the baton over to Walter Mair who explained how he takes a movie score soundtrack and converts the temp mocked up version using VIs into a full live recorded version to create the final score for the film using Logic and Pro Tools.

Focusrite Dante And Red 4 Pre

Next Chris Dominey from Focusrite discussed the company's new range of Dante interfaces and the new Focusrite Red 4 Pre

Then our very own James Ivey demonstrated the new Red 4 Pre showing how for his review on Pro Tools Expert he recording drums using the built in mic pres and an external digital i/o. Then recorded Bass using the DI of the Red 4. Before finally recording guitars using a Focusrite MP8R Dante interface. 

Pro Tools Cloud Collaboration With Tim Bran & Simon Sherbourne

Tim was planned to be in the room but he ended up presenting via Skype as he was in Belgium recording an album. So Tim and Simon from Avid UK showed off some of Tim's remote and collaboration workflows and Tim demonstrated some of the projects he has been working on recently.

There were also other demos including the new Trinnov D-Mon solution, DSpatial all in the Jigsaw24 SteamPunk room as well as demos from AKA, CB Electronics, Focal, Dynaudio, Sonnox, iZotope and G-Technology.
