Winner Of The Avid Pro Tools Dock For iPad

Last month we ran a competition offering the chance to win an Avid Pro Tools Dock for iPad when it is released. We can announce that the lucky winner is Andrii Rogachov from Kyiv in Ukraine.

Andrii is a sound editor, freelancer, working with all types of movies. He told us...

I'm very grateful to you and Pro Tools Expert. Sometimes and very happy to win this prize. I record and edit sound for documentary movies.

With my colleague Serhiy Stepanskiy, we have small mix room (nearly 16 square meters). We started by making stereo mixes and preparing 5.1 for mixing in big studios. At the moment we are editing the sound the movie Ugly in 5.1 with other colleague Boris Peter.

I am currently running Pro Tools 10 with Production Toolkit. My studio monitors are JBL LSR6328P, my audio interface is a Focusrite Saffire Pro24 and currently I use a Mackie Control Universal Pro Control Surface. It's good enough for automation different volumes in our projects, but not good enough when we need pans and plugin automation.

I propose to use the Pro Tools Dock first of all for dialog equalisation, as well as plug-in automation for ambiences and some soundesign. The iPad is great at displaying all the parameters and the soft Knobs and dedicated automation switches will be very helpful in what we do.

Here in Kyiv are two Dolby Mix studios and when I took mix projects there I was using their big Eucon, so I am well aware of how simple and convenient it is to use. I think the Pro Tools Dock for iPad is a good solution for freelancers like me, who work in small studios and will help me to use a mouse less.

Many thanks to you Mike and all the Pro Tools Expert community, you are doing a great job!
