Jigsaw24 are back with their first Mix With The Pros Event for 2016. This event will feature a keynote presentation from Ray Gillon as well as the UK launch of DSpatial. There will be two sessions on 16th March 2016, one between 3pm and 6pm and the second between 7pm and 10pm.

Keynote Presentation By Ray Gillon

After studying Electrical and Electronic engineering Ray worked for a year at an EMI R&D lab, but the call to working in music full time was too strong working at a new 24 track studio as well as playing in various bands. He also designed the PA at Arsenal football stadium before being employed by Dolby in film post production for 10 years before starting his own company, offering foreign language cinema versioning and sound design-editing-mixing et al around 20 years ago. He says "I still relish every challenge and have been rewarded for my efforts in a variety of manners, for which I am grateful. I speak a number of languages and work with clients from all walks of life and corners of the planet on budgets large and small. The best salary is the enrichening that comes through some of the projects. All else is icing on the cake".

The UK Launch Of DSpatial

DSpatial™ has been designed to offer an integrated solution for immersive audio mixing, which they say redefines the classical concepts of reverb, panning and mixing, unifying them into a single space and providing a new paradigm for the sound production and mixing for film and virtual reality.

DSpatial´s key feature is a proprietary Physical Modeling Engine, which allows the user to recreate real spaces and locate, move and rotate sound sources in real time, transporting the listener to a new, virtual yet realistic dimension. Physical properties like the inertia and doppler effects are created automatically by simply moving the sound sources.
Adding more and more channels increases dramatically the complexity of an immersive sound mix. DSpatial directly addresses this by simplifying the problem at its core. With its multi-touch screen DSpatial opens up a whole new field of creative possibilities for the film mixer and sound designer by empowering them whilst simplifying processes.

DSpatial is fully integrated with Pro Tools and is compatible with all immersive or non-immersive formats. The mix is played back in every format without the need to downmix. The number of input and output channels is only limited by the number of interfaces and by the power of the host computer.
