Back in January just before the NAMM show, James, Rex and Paul Drew of Studio One Expert had the opportunity to visit some of the finest recording studios in Los Angeles. Most of these studios were fully booked, which is a good thing. Sadly being booked out did mean we were not able to take pictures. However we arrived at United Recording Studios on Sunset Boulevard early enough to get a good look around and be able to take some pictures and be able to share them with you. 

United Recordings has two main recording rooms Studio A and B. Studio B is the slightly smaller of the two. Both are Bill Putnam designed rooms and have remained virtually untouched since the 60's. Take it from me, both live spaces sound amazing. 

Due to a mixing session we were not able to get to see one of the last surviving Focusrite Forte consoles which lives in the Studio A control room but United Recording Studios are in the process of updating their website so plenty of fantastic pictures will be available to view soon.

We then moved into Studio B another famous Putnam room. The Neve console in the B control room is actually 2 desks made into one for this room.  There is also an abundance of classic outboard gear. The microphone stands still wear the UWR markings from when United and Western Recorders Studio (now East West Studios 2 doors down) were one and the same studio called United Western Recorders.
