Use Sonarworks Room Correction Software On Your Mac System Audio

I'm late to the Sonarworks party but since getting it I'm really pleased with the change it has made to my monitoring. One thing that pleased me was that the room monitoring wasn't as far out as I thought it might have been.

For a more in depth explanation of Sonarworks with a review and also how to set Sonarworks up then read Dan Cooper's excellent article.

I like it so much that I'd like to also use it on my system audio when listening to audio sent to me (without having to pull it into a DAW) or when listening to streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music.

However the system relies on using a plugin AU or VST on a Mac. So I started to wonder how to play the system audio via a plug-in. There may be other ways but I reached for the trusty Rogue Ameba Audio Hijack Pro

Audio Hijack Pro have almost limitless uses and well worth having in your app collection. On this occasion I simply used the Application playback module, added in a plug-in module (Sonarworks) and then routed that to the outputs of the Mac.

It works like a charm.

As I say you may be able to do this using things such as Jack and other similar apps but if not then check out Audio Hijack Pro so you can listen to everything with room correction.
