Cool Track Freeze Shortcut For Pro Tools - Windows PC

Pro Tools guru Shane (Shan) has shared a very cool Track Freeze workflow for Pro Tools for Windows users on the DUC. In his post on the DUC he says;

"For those who want a direct keyboard shortcut for Track Freeze on Windows, here it is. We found it odd that Track Freeze has no direct keyboard shortcut for selected tracks, or even has standard Windows file menu Alt access:

Using the standard Windows Alt key(Alt > T > F) to access the main menu will not allow for a toggle to unfreeze. You'll have to use Alt > T > U to unfreeze, since it's based off of using the first character in the string. Ideally, Avid should have underlined the following strings in the Windows main menu:

  • Freeze
  • Unfreeze

The underlined "f" character would've allowed us to toggle using the same Windows Alt menu access command. To remedy this, we created our own keyboard shortcut toggle that will freeze/unfreeze your selected tracks and decided to share it with the community. It's been tested and works on W7 with Pro Tools 12.4 HD Native and Pro Tools 12.4 HDX. Pro Tools 12.4 Vanilla, W8.1, and W10 still need confirmation. "
