There's an image that has been doing the rounds on social media for some time now, in various forms of Scarlett Johansson. You can see it above.

To put the image in context, the original image of Ms Johansson sans make-up and Photoshop has been posted on Scarlett Johansson's Facebook page to encourage women about the power of natural beauty. I'm the father of 4 girls and so I know exactly how beautiful they are without anything added to enhance them. Ms Johansson is right, natural beauty is something every women should be encouraged to embrace, rather than be pressured to look like someone who can't possibly exist outside of Photoshop.

The implied message of the meme above is the suggestion that without audio engineers and mastering engineers is that average music wouldn't be half as good. That really is an adventure in missing the point.

What the meme really illustrates is that you need real talent in the first place to make outstanding music and all the production tricks in the world won't change that. Yes you need great sound and mastering engineers, but it starts with talent, let's never forget that.
